Learn polo
From your first time in the saddle to your first chukka.
How do I start playing polo?
What a lesson looks like
Start with a private lesson, a double lesson or a group lesson at The Norwegian Polo Club in Manstad. You learn to ride a polo pony, use the mallet and the key rules, on a horse that knows the game.
Lessons often start in the arena, so you can get comfortable on the horse, before you head out onto the polo field. We shape each lesson around what you already know.
A lesson lasts about one to two hours. Hats and sticks are provided. Bring your own footwear if you can; there is a selection to borrow.
- Sitting and steering a polo pony
- Mallet strokes, starting from a standing horse
- Basic rules and safety on the field
- The path on to chukkas
